New Irish food tourism strategy unveiled
Irish tourism, culture and sport minister Mary Hanafin has helped launch Fáilte Ireland's new Food in Tourism framework.
The new national strategy is designed to capitalise on a growing trend of visitors seeking culinary experiences as part of their holiday. According to research, approximately €2 (£1.72) out of every €5 (£4.30) spent by tourists in Ireland goes towards food and drink.
Hanafin said: "Eating out is an integral part of the tourism experience." An industry-led working group - featuring chefs such as Catherine Fulvio and Darina Allen - have helped to deliver the new framework.
