MyTravel cuts to reduce total staff numbers by a fifth

Tour operator MyTravel is to cut up to 540 jobs in a further attempt at cost reductions.
The operator will also be cutting nine Boeing aircraft from its UK fleet, leaving it with just 21 aircraft. The cuts are part of an ongoing, aggressive downsizing of the group in an attempt to return the business to profitability by 2005.
The latest job cuts will account for around a fifth of MyTravel’s total, 2500-strong workforce while the cuts will mostly occur to flight crew and ground services staff.
