MindFidelity launches new audio wellness installation Overtone
Creative audio consultancy MindFidelity has created a new wellness soundscape installation called Overtone, offering a sonic immersion of gongs, singing bowls and chimes using high fidelity speakers.
Specialising in bespoke sound and original music composition, Overtone is the latest innovation by MindFidelity that reimagines the traditional sound bathing gong experience.
A sculptural suspended circular speaker called The Aureole is installed to create a visual and sonic focal point.
The Overtone soundscape emanates from this speaker, providing top quality recordings of instruments in a contemporary composition by Liam Paton, award-winning composer, sound designer and founder of MindFidelity.
Overtone is a self-contained, standalone product that can be integrated flexibly into various wellness, spa and hospitality offerings, with soundcapes available in different durations, of 15, 30 and 40 minutes.
Paton told Spa Business: “Rather than directly playing back a recording of a traditional gong bath, the Overtone soundscape embellishes this ancient palette of instruments with contemporary musical elements, natural ambience and sound design layers in a way only achievable via loudspeaker playback. Our intention is to simultaneously pay homage to and deliver the benefits of a gong bath, whilst sonically reimagining it.
“The use of speakers also allows us to create a spatialised audio experience, placing sounds in three-dimensional space around the listener,” added Paton. “We have multiple configurations across single, triple and five-speaker arrays, designed to flex to the size of a given space. Each configuration has a bespoke audio mix that fully leverages speaker placement and formation to enhance the sense of immersion and directionality."
