Mansfield Council to assess future of leisure provision
By Tom Walker
Mansfield District Council is investing in a survey which it hopes will help it maximise the quality and affordability of its leisure and cultural services.
The council has appointed London-based consultancy PMP to conduct an options appraisal and to provide advice on management practices, as part of its Business Transformation Strategy for Mansfield initiative.
The appraisal aims to assess the short and long term benefits, costs and risks of delivering services via a number of management options. Each option will then be assessed with the objectives set out in the council's recently published leisure and cultural strategy.
A final report and preferred option will be considered at a meeting of the full Council in June 2008.
