Manchester pool revamp nears completion
Manchester City Council (MCC) has revealed that a £250,000 project to improve facilities at Levenshulme Pools is nearing completion.
The refurbishment programme, which is being undertaken alongside Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust (MSLT), started in 2009 with the creation of new shower areas and improvements to the gym. Essential roof repairs, new toilets in both of the pool areas, structural works, the installation of an improved lighting system and an internal re-fit of poolside cabins have also been carried out.
New signage is set to be installed along with further decoration work and additional roof maintenance before the scheme is completed. MCC executive member for culture and leisure Mike Amesbury said: "More than £250,000 will have been invested at Levenshulme Pools as part of an ongoing investment into indoor leisure provision across the city."
MSLT interim chief executive Rebecca Livesey added: "Repair and maintenance continues to be a priority for us as we continue to invest in improving the quality of our leisure facilities working in partnership with the city council."
