The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) has called for the US state to consider permanently adopting stricter regulation of the fat-reduction injection called Lipodissolve.
According to The Kansas City Star, the KSBHA, which regulates physician licensure, said that more physician involvement in the procedure should be encouraged, due to the injection being a medical treatment.
The temporary regulation requires that a physician performs a physical exam, records the patient’s medical history and writes a prescription before the compound is administered. The rule covers the most common form of Lipodissolve – phosphatidylcholine and sodium deoxycholate.
The KSBHA is scheduled to consider permanent status of the regulation on 19 August.
