Last few places left for indoor rowing course
ISPAL is happy to announce that the 1st4sport L1 in coaching indoor rowing will be running on the 10th and 11th of November.
We have had a healthy amount of people apply for the course, but there are still a couple of places available for anybody else that is interested.
The course has been specifically adapted for those working in the heath and fitness environment, and will be held at Rivers Health and Fitness Club in Reading.
The two days will cover the following modules:
Day 1
• Introduction to coaching roles, responsibilities and behaviours • Introduction to the two days and aims of the award, coaching contexts and subsequent roles of the coach
• Health, safety and emergency procedures and risk assessment for indoor rowing • Safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults
• Setting up and maintaining the rowing machine/ theory and practical • Delivering coaching activities theory
• Key concepts of indoor rowing technique, key fault detection
Day 2 • Planning sessions for different groups
• Deliver coaching activities - practical • Deliver coaching sessions and practice feedback for each other, as well as internally observed task
• Evaluating coaching activities • Discussion and key learning points from practical observation and feedback
• Knowledge paper • Closed book - independently assessed
• Feedback and close
The cost of the course is £240 and will include all of your course material and handouts, one-year's membership to the Amateur Rowing Association as an indoor rowing member and access to their online education system RowHow, and tea and coffee on both days.
