Inquiry date set for Harrogate scheme

A public inquiry into plans for a new walking and cycling route between Bilton and Ripley, North Yorkshire, will get underway on 16 February 2011.
Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) is working with sustainable transport charity Sustrans on the proposed bridleway scheme, which will form part of the national Connect2 project. A planning inspector will now determine the fate of the plans, which aim to boost the number of people walking and cycling and will feature attractions such as Ripley Castle.
HBC's Michael Harrison, chair of the Connect2 steering group, said: "Assuming we get a positive result from the inquiry then we are well on the way to seeing this project completed."
