ISPA reveals international trends forecast for 2009
By Sarah Todd
The International Spa Association (ISPA) has published its annual spa and wellness forecast for the year ahead.
Speaking about the forecast, ISPA president Lynne McNees said: “In this economy, people are watching their money, plain and simple. Spa professionals are listening to their customers and creating specialised treatments. It’s all about meeting the demands of consumers.”
One of the hottest trends will include customised treatments, with spas combining a series of treatments or an individual therapy to fit into a client’s lifestyle.
Other top trends will include family-friendly resort spas, offering classes such as family yoga, and organic spas, offering treatments that highlight indigenous plants and the environment in which the spa is located.
There may also be an increase in spa credits, whereby hotels aiming to increase bookings offer free treatments or ‘spa credits’ when guests book rooms.
There will also be dental spas offering hand massages and reflexology with orthodontic work and a rise in spa memberships is also predicted. Details: experienceispa.com
