History of indoor swimming in the UK published
A new book has been published telling the story of British swimming baths.
Great Lengths is a new title from Played in Britain, in conjunction with English Heritage, and will be of interest to anyone involved with the debate over the closure or redevelopment of some of the nation's oldest swimming pools. The book, which features 56 case studies of surviving historic baths and a foreword by Olympian Rebecca Adlington, has been compiled by Dr Ian Gordon, a former competitive swimmer and the Chief Medical Officer for British Swimming; and Simon Inglis, the editor of the Played in Britain series and an architectural historian specialising in sporting and recreational buildings.
