Health and spa in Tennessee
A European-style health club and spa has opened in Brentwood, Tennessee.
The Athena Health Club and Day Spa is the brainchild of Michael Carter, who decided to develop the concept after experiencing health clubs while living in Europe for a number of years.
Costing $5m, and two and a half years in the making, the 15,000sq ft facility has a European interior with a gym, sauna, steamroom, swimming pool and even trickling waterfalls.
“We’ve spent the last couple of years planning and modifying he concept and have drawn a lot of inspiration from the Champneys health clubs,” said Carter.
Targeting high income earners, the facility has a women-only health club, where services include one-on-one fitness training, exercise classes, nutritional guidance and individually tailored fitness programmes with an emphasis on health and nutrition.
There is also mixed gym and eight treatment rooms offering a range of services for men and women including Botox, dead sea mud and salt treatments, sports massage, Swedish massage and deep tissue massage.
Membership will be capped at 1,600 members to ensure the facility does not become overcrowded and Carter expects to attract around 400 members to the club this year.
