Pub operator Greene King has revealed a new industrial placement programme designed to help graduates gain a foothold in the hospitality industry.
The 48-week structured programme is designed to prepare recent graduates for the role of deputy manager of a pub. Following an induction, the graduates are sent to a training house in either London or Cheltenham, where they will get hands-on business experience as well as undertake formal study.
Off the job learning will include modules such as: becoming a personal licence holder; management of health and safety; beer and cellar quality and first aid – which are all recognised industry qualifications at Certificate IV level.
Terri Hardy, project manager for industrial placements at Greene King, said: “We want to encourage graduates to see the pub industry as an inspiring and viable career choice.
By the age of 25, our graduates could be running an exciting business with a sizeable team, hundreds of loyal customers and a £1m turnover.”
