Grants enable expansion of heritage projects in Rochdale
Leisure trust Link4Life, which operates sports and cultural services in the borough of Rochdale, has received funding for two new heritage projects in collaboration with Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum and local schools.
The spokesperson for the trust said a grant from Renaissance Northwest will finance “an inquisition into the social and economic effects of fires during the local textile era, working in collaboration with a local school.”
“The objective of the project is to raise awareness of employment opportunities within the heritage sector for Year 9 pupils as they approach their option choices.”
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) has also awarded a grant to enable the Fire Service Museum to develop its education service.
Furthermore, the MLA has accredited the Link4Life-managed Touchstones Rochdale and the Arts & Heritage Resource Centre in Rochdale Borough as having met the national standards for museums.
The accolade follows the centres’ having achieved Investors in People and VAQAS, the quality mark for visitor services.
Link4Life took over the borough’s arts and heritage services in April this year.
