'Full approval' for National Football Centre
Work on England's new National Football Centre is to commence in January 2011 after the scheme was given full approval by the Football Association's (FA) board.
St George's Park is to be built on a 330-acre (133.5-hectare) site near Burton-upon-Trent and will include a coach education and training facility and a multi-purpose sports hall. The approval includes a commitment from both the FA Professional and National Game Boards to ensure the £105m cost of the complex is underwritten.
Locum Consulting and Colliers International have both been involved with the development, which is also set to include a 230-bed 'two-in-one' hotel. Image: The FA via Getty Images
