By Tom Walker
More than 250 young people flocked to Matlock over the weekend to take part in Derbyshire’s first ever Action Sports Festival.
The festival, held at Hall Leys Park in Matlock, provided the opportunity for young people to try out BMX racing and KMX carts as well as a climbing wall and a Laser Quest game.
The aim of the event was to provide children between the ages of nine-19 the opportunity to try new action sports.
The free event was organised by a partnership of Derbyshire Sport, Derbyshire Dales District Council, South Derbyshire District Council, Bolsover District Council, Derby City Council and Derbyshire County Council Youth Service with the Youth Opportunities Fund being the key source of funding.
