FA upholds Northwich Victoria appeal
The Football Association (FA) has upheld an appeal by Northwich Victoria Football Club (NVFC) against a decision to relegate the club from the Blue Square North league after it broke the league's financial regulations.
NVFC, which was relegated from the Blue Square Premier at the end of the 2008-09 season, had faced the prospect of being demoted two leagues rather than one as league officials ruled that the club had entered administration too late. However, the Northwich Guardian reported that NVFC chair Jim Rushe had informed Football Conference authorities ahead of the league's deadline that the club was to go into administration.
The FA's decision to uphold NVFC's appeal now means that the club is likely to start the 2009-10 season in Blue Square North with a 10-point deduction.
