'External partner' sought for Bridgend facilities
Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) is inviting 'external partners' to submit plans for the running of the South Wales town's leisure facilities.
The council's cabinet has agreed to launch a tender process in order to deliver an operator for sports centres and swimming pools currently run in-house. BCBC has also confirmed that it will be starting a consultation with staff and trade unions on the proposals over the coming months.
Lyn Morgan, the council's cabinet member for wellbeing, said: "We have spent many months looking at how we can manage our centres and pools in a more efficient way but which still attracts residents to use our facilities. "Undoubtedly a partnership with an external organisation will help us increase participation and achieve sustainable facilities, while making essential savings."
