Exercise in a pill

A group of American scientists believe they are close to creating a drug that could mimic the effects of cardiovascular exercise.

The team, from the Duke School of Medicine in America, has been studying the biochemistry of muscles for almost 20 years.

Their latest discovery could be used to help chronically ill, overweight or immobile people stay fit, but is unlikely to be effective enough to replace genuine physical activity in the fit and healthy.
