Entries now open for 2005 Business Excellence Awards
British Hospitality Association (BHA) members are being invited to submit their entries for the 2005 Business Excellence Awards.
Considered to be among the most prestigious and highly coveted in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry, the Business Excellence Awards are awarded to UK businesses that have demonstrated their willingness to adopt or adapt best practice in all aspects of their operation – so raising their efficiency and their profitability and using innovative business practices to achieve outstanding success.
This year, the awards are being run in association with The Guardian newspaper group, whose titles include the Observer and Observer Food Monthly magazine to attract more entries from an even wider range of companies.
The winners will be announced and presented with their awards at a prestigious Gala Awards Dinner at the London Hilton Park Lane on Wednesday 3 May 2006, to which industry leaders and professionals, clients, suppliers and media will be invited.
The winning entries will be featured in a special supplement produced and distributed nationally by The Observer (circulation 450,000).
Entry criteria:
A company should enter by confirming that it is one of the following:
– Independent organisation with a turnover of less than £1m – Independent organisation with a turnover of more than £1m
– Group: multi-unit operator, high street chain. PLC
The winners in each company category will receive an inscribed glass trophy and be able to use the Awards logo for the respective year on their own promotional material.
Business Sector Award Categories:
– Hotels – Restaurants
– Pubs & Clubs – Attractions
– Holiday & Caravan Parks – Sport & Leisure
– Conference – Excellence Through People
(Please note that businesses entering the Excellence Through People category must be participating in the ETP programme.)
The overall winner of each Business Sector Category will, subject to our approval, also receive a one-week summer business school programme of their choice (e.g. Hotels - Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland, or Attractions - Cornell University, USA).
A special judges’ award will, in addition, recognise the business with the greatest contribution to creativity, innovation and continuous improvement.
Entries should show the problems faced by the business and its management or partners, the solutions developed and the ultimate benefits to the organisation.
Entries should be as jargon-free as possible, highlight results and demonstrate proven success in the respective roles of the department, individual teams, staff and any third party partners or suppliers in the project.
The closing date for entries is 15 December 2005
