Edinburgh Castle keeps top spot in Scotland
Edinburgh Castle is still the most popular paid-for visitor attraction in Scotland.
The heritage site received nearly 1.2 million visitors during 2009, a 6 per cent increase on the year before.
The castle is operated by Historic Scotland, which also manages Stirling Castle and Urquhart Castle on behalf of the Scottish government.
Visitors to the Stirling and Urguhart rose by 2 per cent and 4 per cent respectively.
