Dance and exercise tops the bill
A survey from Sport England shows that people taking part in dance and exercise movement are more satisfied with their experience than participants in any other form of physical activity.
According the Sport England study, which measured the quality of experience for regular participants in more than 40 sports and activities, 89 per cent of those taking part in dance were satisfied with the organised activities.
The survey measured satisfaction with the quality of the sporting experience and focused on the overall service that participants received from their national governing body - which includes everything from staff to value for money and from fitness benefit to performance development.
Daran Bennett, chief executive of Exercise Movement and Dance Partnership (EMDP) welcomed the news, saying that the results are an indication that the partnership's teachers are able to offer an "all round exercise experience".
"We have always believed the level of service our teachers provide is second to none - and now we have the results to support our theory," he said.
"The quality of our teachers is testament to the comprehensive training programme they are given along with the network of support the teachers receive once they are qualified. But, above all, it is down to the individuals that the EMPD attract and the commitment and passion they have for teaching."
Andree Deane, chief executive of the Fitness Industry Association (FIA), said: "Exercise, movement and dance as a concept is compelling, engaging and fun, the results are a credit to the teachers who obviously combine their natural enthusiasm with a proven ability to excite and motivate their classes."
