Cockermouth Leisure Centre set for reopening

Cockermouth Leisure Centre is set to reopen next month following a £1m revamp of the facility.
The refurbished building boasts a new arched roof as well as a new reception area, studio, meeting rooms and an expanded gym.
The project was undertaken by Allerdale Borough Council and leisure trust Carlisle Leisure, which operates the site.
Martin Horne, business development manager for Carlisle Leisure said: “We’re delighted to be able to be able to provide an enhanced facility for the residents of Cockermouth and it’s a great testimony to our partnership with Allerdale Borough Council that so much has been invested in the facilities in such a relatively short space of time. I’m sure the new building will be very well received and supported.”
Team GB rower and London 2012 hopeful Richie Steele will be present on the opening day on 4 April, and challenging local residents to beat his quickest time over 500m on the day.
