Chesterfield FC handed keys to new stadium
Chesterfield Football Club (CFC) is set to move into its new £13m b2net Stadium, after contractor GB Building Solutions handed over ownership of the venue to the club.
The new 10,300-seat stadium will replace the Coca Cola League Two club's Saltergate ground and has been developed on a 10-acre (4.1-hectare) former industrial site at Whittingham Moor. CFC will now carry out final preparations for the final fit-out of the venue, which will include the installation of IT systems, furniture and signage to ensure the stadium is ready for the start of the 2010-11 season.
Access to the new b2net Stadium will continue to be restricted until the club has completed its official move to the ground next week, with club operations being carried out at the Recreation Ground in the mean time. CFC chief executive Carol Wilby said: "This is another key milestone for the club and one which means everyone's dream of moving into a new football stadium is about to be realised very soon."
