Celtic Community Leisure clamps down on smoking
Celtic Community Leisure, which operates all the local authority-owned leisure centres in Neath Port Talbot, has banned smoking in all its facilities.
The trust was recently presented with six gold awards (for a total ban on smoking) and three bronze awards (for restricted area smoking) on National No Smoking Day as part of the local authority’s Smoke Free Award scheme.
John Powell, managing director of the trust, said "Celtic Community Leisure is pleased to be able to participate in the Smoke Free Award scheme to ensure that our visitors are able to maximise their enjoyment of the facilities on offer and staff experience a healthy work environment."
A spokesperson for the local authority added: "Many leisure facilities are completely smoke free and we would like to encourage more premises to take up our awards.
“Becoming smoke free is good for health, good for business, and popular with the overwhelming majority of residents and visitors to Neath Port Talbot.”
