Castle work 'on track' for Easter finish
Work on the extensive £12m restoration and refurbishment of the royal palace at Stirling Castle, Scotland, remains on course to be completed by Easter 2011.
Morris and Spottiswood has been appointed to lead the project, which will see the former lodgings of James V and his queen restored to how they would have looked during the 16th century. Historic Scotland has now launched a new series of films to document progress being made on the scheme, which will be made available on YouTube and at events in the run-up to the reopening of the palace.
Peter Yeoman, head of cultural resources at Historic Scotland, said: "Returning the palace to how it may have looked in the mid-16th century is a huge project and this film gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how it is being done. "We also want people to get a first glimpse of what's in store when it reopens next year, providing the country with an exciting new visitor attraction."
