Carshalton leisure centre plans to be discussed
Plans for a £10.8m refurbishment of Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton, London, are to be discussed by the local authority on 18 January.
Sutton Council's executive has been recommended to move forward with the renovation of the facility, which first opened in 1977. According to a report to go before the executive, a study by Capita Symonds confirmed that Westcroft Leisure Centre was "in an ideal location with high levels of utilisation".
The facility mix includes a 25m x 17m, eight lane swimming pool; a 20m x 10m teaching pool; and spectator seating. An eight-court sports hall; two dance studios; a 170-station fitness suite; a library; treatment rooms and changing facilities are also mooted.
The report said: "Funding for this scheme will come from the disposal of assets through the general capital programme and from prudential borrowing."
