Canterbury reveals Open Space strategy
Canterbury City Council (CCC) has outlined its future plans for the management of parks in the district.
The council’s Open Space Strategy covers the five-year period from 2009 to 2014 and includes plans for the upkeep of parks, gardens, play areas and woodlands as well as sport pitches.
In the plans, CCC announced its intentions to seek Green Flag status for a park in each of the city’s three urban areas; to develop a community football hub in the city; and to secure £100,000 worth of central government funding for the creation of new play areas.
The plans will now undergo a public consultation, before a final strategy is approved by the council.
