Boutique Sri Lankan hotel group Uga opens oceanic wellness sanctuary Uga Prava
Boutique Sri Lankan hotel group Uga has launched Uga Prāva in the coastal town of Tangalle, Sri Lanka, immersed in nature for all kinds of wellness activities and experiences.
This resort joins Uga’s collection as the group's seventh property throughout Sri Lanka.
The seven ocean-facing suites have been built within a 2.5-acre plot with a modern and minimalist design in neutral colours, to blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The pristine coastal waters are key to the property’s wellness offering. The area is home to ancient fishing traditions, surfing opportunities, lagoon safaris and snorkelling excursions.
Marcelline Paul, executive VP of Uga, told Spa Business, "At Uga Prāva, we've reimagined wellness as more than a service – it's a philosophy that flows through every element of our oceanfront sanctuary.
“What makes our wellness offering truly unique is our commitment to creating an immersive journey that starts as soon as you step through our doors,” Paul added. “We combine the healing properties of nature with luxurious Balinese treatments, resulting in a holistic experience that transcends traditional spa boundaries.
“The south coast is the perfect setting for relaxation and renewal,” continued Paul. “Our yoga and meditation offering, beneath Sri Lanka's golden sun, can restore your mind, body and spirit. And as you float in the crystalline waters of our 41-meter infinity pool, you will feel a deep connection with the vast blue horizon.”
Wellness
The property’s spa has two treatment rooms – one single and one double – offering therapies that are inspired by the ocean and that use local herbal remedies.
Sothys is the spa’s skincare partner for its traditional Balinese therapies, including four-hand massages, foot and hand reflexology and hot stone treatments.
A range of body scrubs and wraps are also on offer, as well as a 45-minute botanical hair spa therapy.
While the property has a gym, exercise is possible throughout the range of other experiences on offer. These include scenic cycling tours, walking temple tours and kayak sessions in a lake full of lotus flowers.
Meditation and yoga sessions take place on the pool deck, by the beach or in the garden.
Dining
The property offers a range of Sri Lankan flavours, using locally sourced ingredients in all of its dishes. These include kola kanda herbal porridge at breakfast, seafood poke bowls for lunch and mahi mahi carpaccio with pol sambol or lagoon prawn curry thermidor for dinner.
