Best Western opens first Egyptian hotel
Hotel operator Best Western International has launched its first property in Egypt - the Best Western Solitaire resort in Marsa Alam - as part of efforts to expand the group's African portfolio.
Located on the Red Sea coast, the 151-bedroom hotel includes a restaurant, an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, a night club, a sauna, a fitness centre and conference and banqueting facilities, as well as a game room and a ballroom. According to a spokesperson for Best Western, the hotel owners are planning to develop a more extensive spa area in the future to complement existing facilities, which also include tennis courts and a private beach.
Suzi Yoder, Best Western International's vice president of international operations, said: "As the only Best Western property in Egypt, the Solitare Resort is uniquely positioned to accommodate the growing leisure market trend in Marsa Alam." The group is also planning to open a second Egyptian hotel in Zafarana in early 2010.
