Barnsley Premier Leisure members told to ‘get on their bikes’

Barnsley Premier Fitness set its members the challenge of cycling the equivalent of the 1,700km from Land’s End to John O’Groats at Barnsley Metrodome and Hoyland Leisure Centre last month, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
The campaign organisers hoped to raise £1.5m to help fund heart research.
Lauren Mallinson, fundraising volunteering manager for South Yorkshire at the British Heart Foundation, said: “British Heart Foundation research has helped save many lives.
“The Land’s End to John O’Groats virtual Cycle Challenge is the perfect way to get involved in the Help a Heart campaign while also keeping your own heart healthy. Heart disease can affect anyone and it is only with your support that we can beat heart disease together.”
James Starbuck, chief executive of Barnsley Premier Leisure, said: “While we don’t often ask our customers to ‘get on their bike’ this was a fantastic opportunity to raise money for the British Heart Foundation’s Help a Heart campaign.”
