BOA salaries 'increase by one fifth'
Average salaries at the British Olympic Association (BOA) have increased by more than 20 per cent during the past year, according to figures leaked to the BBC.
The broadcaster reported that the average salary at the organisation has grown to more than £75,000, while the number of staff employed decreased from 57 to 52. In a statement, the BOA told the BBC that it had recorded an annual profit of £236,000 and had also increased its reserves to £2.2m.
A BOA spokesperson said: "The unprecedented opportunities and challenges associated with preparing to support Team GB in a home games environment require the BOA to attract the best-possible talent. "Clearly, having delivered a year-end profit for 2010, the organisation is living within its means."
