Alliance Leisure has completed the revamp of two public leisure centres in Doncaster.
Work at Armthorpe Sports Centre included the conversion of two squash courts into a 60-station fitness suite with mezzanine floor. The changing rooms were also upgraded to better cater for people with disabilities.
Meanwhile, work at the Rossington Sports Centre included doubling the size of the fitness suite, which now boasts 32 cv and resistance stations.
The £1m work on the sites was funded and project managed by Alliance Leisure on behalf of the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council.
A third facility, Thorne Sports Centre, is due to undergo a similar revamp and work is expected to begin early next year.
Eva Hughes, cabinet member of for public health at the Doncaster Council, said: “The refurbishment of our sports centres is part of our strategy to encourage exercise across Doncaster by ensuring that facilities are appealing, good value for money and easily accessible to residents of all ages and abilities.”
