Solar panels for two Oxford leisure centres
Oxford City Council (OCC) has announced the installation of solar panels at two leisure centres, which are designed to help the facilities reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.
Barton Leisure Centre and Ferry Leisure Centre are both operated by the local authority and will save around £8,000 each year, as well as cutting emissions by 33 carbon tonnes.
OCC head of leisure and parks Ian Brooke said the installation complements other similar schemes implemented since 2008, which saw emissions reduced by 3.9 per cent last year.
"The installation of these panels is one of several energy projects that have resulted in a reduction of total carbon emissions across our seven leisure facilities," said Brooke.
