Vending machines help African communities

Twenty rural communities in Africa now have a constant supply of clean, disease-free water, thanks to a vending scheme from Liverpool City Council.
A year ago, the council signed a contract with Autobar to supply Thirsty Planet bottled water to vending machines in its 15 leisure centres.
From every bottle sold, 5p goes to the charity Pump Aid.

Thirsty Planet water, produced by Waterbrands of Harrogate, is dedicated to bringing clean water to millions of people in sub Saharan Africa. The bottled water works exclusively with Pump Aid, a UK charity with 12 years experience in delivering sustainable and cost-effective solutions to provide clean water to impoverished communities.
