press release: Wattbike
Hybrid Racer and Wattbike join forces to power hybrid racing performance
Hybrid racing is brutal. Athletes must combine endurance running with functional strength under extreme fatigue, all while managing training load, protecting joints and building aerobic capacity across a demanding race season.
To help solve these challenges, Wattbike has announced a new performance partnership with Hybrid Racer, uniting precision indoor cycling technology with elite hybrid racing coaching to support athletes preparing for one of the fastest-growing disciplines in fitness.
Through the partnership, Wattbike users will gain access to the Hybrid Racer Training Programme via the Wattbike Hub App, an 8-week structured plan designed by leading coaches in the hybrid racing space. The programme is built to improve aerobic capacity, sharpen pacing strategy and prepare athletes for race day through two targeted Wattbike sessions per week alongside performance testing, including a benchmark 6-minute average watts test.
A core focus of the programme is off-feet aerobic development. By using the Wattbike to build endurance without repetitive running impact, athletes can develop powerful aerobic capacity while managing fatigue and reducing stress on joints, supporting long-term durability across a full racing season.
This approach reflects Wattbike’s Start Strong, Stay Strong philosophy: helping athletes train smarter by balancing performance gains with sustainable conditioning, underpinned by Wattbike’s industry-leading accuracy and precision measurement.
Beyond the structured programme, Hybrid Racer brings a holistic coaching system focused on clarity, confidence and race readiness. Athletes benefit from intelligent pacing strategies, adaptable training pathways aligned to the racing calendar, and access to an online community offering ongoing education, challenges and coaching support.
Chris and Gus, co-founders at Hybrid Racer, said: “Hybrid racing places huge demands on the body - it’s relentless, and getting the balance right between engine, strength and recovery is critical. We’ve used Wattbike extensively in our own training and coaching to build aerobic capacity without breaking athletes down. This partnership allows us to bring that same proven approach to racers everywhere, giving them smarter structure, clearer feedback and the confidence to show up on race day ready to perform.”
Stephen Loftus, CEO at Wattbike added: “Hybrid athletes need more than hard sessions, they need intelligent training that protects durability while building real performance. By combining Wattbike’s precision data with Hybrid Racer’s expert coaching framework, we’re helping athletes develop endurance, manage fatigue and prepare for competition in a way that supports long-term progress, not burnout.”
This partnership brings together cutting-edge indoor cycling technology and expert hybrid racing coaching to support athletes at every stage of their journey, from building aerobic foundations to sharpening race-day performance.
Launched on 31st January 2026, the Hybrid Racer Training Programme is now available exclusively via the Wattbike Hub App.
