GLL supports National Breastfeeding Week 2025

World Breastfeeding Week / The Breastfeeding Network
The aims of the Breastfeeding Network's Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme are to:
• Support and empower families to feel confident breastfeeding out and about, as is their legal right
• Offer a way for businesses to show that they are working towards welcoming and supporting breastfeeding
• Raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and of the barriers parents may face
GLL have committed to:
1. Registering all leisure centres on the Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme
2. Ensuring all employees are aware of the scheme and have read the ‘Information for staff and volunteers’ document provided as part of the pack
3. Displaying the breastfeeding friendly posters, certificate of commitment and/or stickers in centres it manages
4. Ensuring all staff are aware of the law in relation to mothers feeding in public and that they know a mother must never be asked to stop feeding her baby in a place she is legally entitled to be.

This week (17 June) saw charitable social enterprise GLL bring together invited guests from
across Parliament, local government, national sector bodies, cultural organisations, the
literary community and sports bodies at a celebration to mark the successful first year of
the GLL Literary Foundation.

has today (9 June 2026) announced that it will be supporting the National Year of Reading as
