PRESS RELEASE
Alliance Leisure achieves iiE Green accreditation for commitment to sustainability
09 Oct 2025
Green Accreditation with Investors in the Environment / iiE
iiE is an accessible and proven route to help organisations get started on their sustainability journey and make a real impact. It has been running for over 12 years, and in that time has helped hundreds of organisations from all sectors and sizes to improve their environmental performance. The scheme is owned and managed by a sustainability charity.
Alliance Leisure’s journey with iiE began in 2021. Since then, the company has invested time and resources into a structured Environmental Management System with a target to reach net zero by 2035. Within that framework, Alliance Leisure set a baseline for its carbon footprint last year and has already delivered a 47.9% reduction in transport emissions.
Practical measures underpinning the accreditation include defaulting to online meetings to avoid unnecessary travel and a transition to an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2028, supported by active monitoring of hybrid/EV uptake across the fleet.
In parallel, Alliance Leisure is a Carbon Literate Organisation (Silver) with staff training in place, and the company also supports woodland creation through Forest Carbon’s Carbon Club as part of its offsetting strategy.
John Leaver, who led the accreditation process, says: “Earning iiE Green is a proud moment for our team. It validates the everyday changes we’ve made; how we travel, meet, use data and design facilities. It keeps us accountable to our 2035 net-zero goal and it proves that the projects we deliver can leave a lighter footprint for the communities they serve.”
