£1.5m funding for Cornwall art studios

Plans to restore and preserve the Porthmeor Studios art complex in St Ives, Cornwall, have been handed £1.5m by the Lottery and the European Union.
The renovation proposals have secured grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage, and European Fisheries Fund, in addition to the European Regional Development Fund. A programme of outreach and education activities are also to be implemented as part of plans to conserve the studios, which are home to artists, fishermen and the St Ives School of Painting.
