Glasgow-based Barr + Wray has been appointed by main contractor Farrans Construction, on behalf of North Down Borough Council, to install the 50m swimming pool and associated plant works at a new leisure complex in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland.
The new £38m facility – designed by McAdam Design with S&P Architects – will be located at Valentine Playing Fields.
The project, which includes a £15m investment from the Northern Ireland Executive and is the country's first ever Olympic-sized pool, is set for completion in summer 2012.
As part of the £2.5m contract, Barr + Wray will supply and install three water treatment systems for the 50m pool, diving pool and wave pool, as well as the wave generator, diving bubbler system and pumping for various water slides and two spa pools.
It has also been contracted to install two moveable floors and two submersible booms for the 50m pool and an additional floor for the diving pool.
