Work starts on Sneinton Market scheme
Nottingham City Council (NCC) has announced the start of work to transform Sneinton Market into a new public space for the city.
The proposed new space will provide a venue for events, performances and festivals and will complement the redevelopment of Victoria Leisure Centre. It is also hoped the project - part of a wider £6.8m bid to Connect Nottingham's Eastside - will act as a catalyst for further regeneration, such as the planned relocation of Dance4.
The arts group is planning to create an 'international centre for 21st century dance", which will include choreographic studios. A terraced area for a proposed café will complement Victoria Leisure Centre's historic clock tower, while water features and new street furniture are also planned.
