Woking BC appoints new leisure operator

Woking Borough Council (WBC) has selected GLL - in partnership with Freedom Leisure - as its preferred operator to manage local authority-owned sports and leisure facilities.
It follows a decision taken at a meeting of the full council on 14 July, which will lead to sites such Woking Leisure Centre and Pool in the Park transferred to the new operator. WBC said the deal will see £2m invested in facilities and savings worth nearly £6m over the course of the contract, which will run for 10 years with two potential two-year extensions.
