West London private school invests in £14m leisure facility
An independent day school on West London’s fashionable King Street is about to unveil its new £14m sport and fitness facility.
Due for completion in January 2016, the two-floor sports centre for Latymer Prep and Latymer Upper School will replace the old 1970s centre which has recently been demolished. While the new sports facilities will be used primarily by the schools’ 1,390 students and sporting clubs, they will also be used as part of local community partnerships as well as offering parents a sports and fitness facility.
In addition to a main sports hall, 25m (82ft) swimming pool and three fitness studios, the facility features a 169sq m (1,819sq ft) gym. Precor supplied the equipment for the suite, including five Next-Generation Experience Series Treadmills which have been fitted with Preva networked fitness. There is also the Precor Discovery Strength range – comprising a converging shoulder press, seated leg press and diverging pulldown, along with an Icarian incline lever row, Icarian superbench – and three Concept II rowers.
“Precor has a reputation for quality and after sales service and the equipment suited our sporting and IT requirements,” said Tallan Gill, director of sport at Latymer Upper School.
“Latymerians take their sport and exercise very seriously and it was important for us to have equipment that matches our high quality training and expectations.”
