The Restaurant Group (TRG) has reported an increase in full-year sales and profits for 2008, but admitted that sales were down for the first nine weeks of 2009.
Announcing its full-year results to 28 December, the company – which owns and operates the Frankie & Benny's, Chiquito and Garfunkel's brands – reported a 14 per cent increase in revenue (£417m), resulting in a 13 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £49.8m
The group has, however, experienced a tough first few weeks in 2009 and saw its like-for-like sales fall 2.5 below 2008 levels.
The group plans to open a minimum of 15 new sites in 2009, and could launch up to 20 new properties.
