Strong results for S&N
Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) has announced a strong set of interim results for the six months to 30 June 2004.
Turnover rose to £2,382m in 2004 from £2,286m in 2003 while operating profit increased by 19 per cent to £202m in 2004 from £188m in 2003.
Pre-tax profits also rose to £158m from £146m in 2003 while net debt fell £0.1bn to £1.9bn in 2004.
S&N chair, Sir Brian Stewart, said: “The good performance in the first half of 2004 gives us confidence that we will meet our financial and commercial objectives for the full year.”
