Sally details Six Flags dark ride project
Sally Corporation has revealed full details of the DC Comics universe dark ride it is developing for Six Flags theme parks.
Alterface, which is providing interactivity for the Sally-led project, has already announced its role in helping to create ‘Justice League: Battle For Metropolis’, which is set to open in 2015 at both Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags St. Louis.
The attraction features superheroes such as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman “battling alongside park guests” as they attempt to defeat notorious villains The Joker and Lex Luthor and save Metropolis from destruction. Guests are recruited by the character Cyborg, and the animatronic figure demonstrates how to defeat the villains with powerful laser blasters.
Sally designed the rides after completing the mixed-media interactive ride, ‘Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D’, in 2012 at Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia. Oceaneering, which built the ride system for the Transformers ride at Universal Studios, is also providing the dynamic ride system for the new attraction.
The four minute ride incorporates five large interactive 3D screens, an interactive 3D fog screen, multiple custom vehicles equipped with special laser blasters, and a custom musical score. Special effects include live fire, cannon blasts, holograms, and explosions.
Lexington Scenic is fabricating the dimensional sets and scenery, while Pure Imagination is creating the interactive 3D media.
