The Scottish Tourism Forum (STF) has launched its Tourism Industry manifesto – Profitable Growth for a Sustainable Future.
The manifesto – which aims to represent the interests of the Scottish tourism and hospitality industry – requests a business agenda across all government levels to work in partnership with the industry for the profitable and sustainable growth of the sector.
Alan Rankin, STF chief executive, said. “Our manifesto calls for a business agenda to be at the heart of government, supported by a range of business incentive schemes to attract higher levels of investment in our industry and a greater return for Scotland.
“It is also vital that we invest in vocational training in schools and colleges to equip the industry with craft, service and language skills to meet future needs of more demanding consumers. It is also important that public investment in transport infrastructure takes full consideration of the tourism needs and potential economic benefits.
”Although the tourism industry must embrace environmental operating procedures, it should avoid short-term fixes which could negatively impact on long-term sustainable tourism growth.” Details: www.stforum.com
