RBWM to launch new play consultation
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) is to hold a series of consultation events over the next couple of months into plans to overhaul 11 local play areas.
Residents will be invited to have their say on proposals for the second stage of the £1.1m government-funded Playbuilder scheme, which has already led to the refurbishment of 11 facilities in the past year. Starting on 5 June at Oaken Grove Park in Maidenhead, council officers will be on hand to gather comments as part of the consultation exercise, which aims to ensure the scheme meets the needs of local communities.
Events will be held at a further nine sites over the course of June and July, while the first revamped play site to be completed as part of phase two - Blythewood Amenity Area in Ascot - is due to open in late June. RBWM lead member for adult and community services Simon Dudley said: "The 11 completed Playbuilder sites were designed after consultation with local people and park users and the improvements have proven popular.
"I would strongly encourage residents, and especially the young people who will use the play areas, to tell us their ideas as this will help the council develop the best designs for each of the next 11 sites."
