Kirklees Council plans to transform part of Huddersfield town centre into a mixed-use development.
The £200m Queensgate Revival scheme will comprise a 100-bed hotel in the former Co-operative building – which will retain its Victorian and 1930s facades – plus bars and restaurants, a 70,000sq ft (754,000sq m) new library and art gallery, a refurbished market hall and improved open spaces.
The existing library building has been earmarked for a health club and further leisure facilities. It will also house retail outlets.
The scheme will be subject to a public consultation until 12 November. Details: www.kirklees.gov.uk
