Pontcysyllte Aqueduct tourism strategy backed
Wrexham Council's environment and regeneration scrutiny committee has approved a plan to improve the tourism offer of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal, North Wales.
Members have recommended that the executive board backs the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site Tourism Development Plan 2011-15 on 7 June. The document identifies seven communities within the 11-mile (17.7km) canal corridor that "present unique opportunities for development", with a focus on upgraded visitor facilities.
According to the strategy, a number of measures are designed to encourage the "spreading of visitors" along the length of the World Heritage Site.
