A consortium of developers has lodged a planning application for a £400m, retail, leisure and residential development spanning 19 acres in the city of Edinburgh.

As well as a hotel with approximately 220 rooms, conference suites and a gym, 7,313sq m is allocated for shops and leisure facilities. A variety of cafes bars and restaurants are also planned with a 'metro-style' supermarket, non-food outlets and over 600 new homes and parking schemes.

'The project will act as a major driver in the regeneration of this part of the city by bringing in substantial public and private investment as well as stimulating the local economy', said Andrew Brooks, development director of Southside Capital.
Architects Foster & Partners have been appointed as designers to work on a design to blend together 'old and new architecture to create an inclusive environment'.
